Leave of absence state law updates

Since the beginning of this year, states have been revaluating their laws that provide additional employee leave protection. We prepared a summary of the laws along with commentary and direction on how they may fit into the administration of your leave program. Stay up to date on the latest leave laws in your state by reading our Compliance Update flyer.

In addition, starting January 1, 2018, all employers who have at least one employee whose primary work location is in New York State must comply with New York’s new Paid Family Leave law (“NY PFL law”). Sun Life has created a whitepaper to help employers through the NY PFL law implementation. (If Sun Life is your carrier for New York Disability Benefits Law, you will receive a notification from us shortly regarding the details of how your policy is changing. If you have questions, please reach out to your Sun Life client relationship executive.)
